Ron Ragain

Ron D. Ragain, Ph.D.

Partner & Executive Director

Ron is co-founder and Executive Director of The RAD Group.  He received his doctorate in Psychology from George Peabody College of Vanderbilt University in 1977.  In addition to serving on the faculties of Stephen F. Austin State University, Belmont University and Iowa State University, he has been a consultant to hundreds of organizations around the world since beginning his consulting career in 1981.  Dr. Ragain has actual hands-on experience in the oil and gas industry having worked in both refineries and on offshore drilling rigs.  He has developed and implemented organizational improvement programs in every segment of the oil and gas industry, aircraft maintenance, alarm & security systems, retail merchants, restaurants, newspapers, hospitals and transportation.   He specializes in organizational diagnosis, organizational and individual performance improvement, and safety improvement.  Dr. Ragain is co-author of many training programs including “Performance Management in the Workplace” which has been used to train thousands of managers/supervisors around the world.

Michael Allen - Director of Business Development


Michael has a diverse and practical background in Leadership, Management, Team-building, Training and Curriculum Development.  For 11 years, he honed his skills as a high school football coach and teacher of the humanities.  During this time Michael became quite effective at providing the motivation and skills needed for his athletes to shine at high levels.  In those years, he coached over 100 athletes that moved on to play in college, and a handful of professional athletes.  The lessons learned are directly related to the skills that he now passes on to his clients and class participants with The RAD Group.


Since joining The RAD Group, Michael has become a sought after commodity for speaking and teaching topics such as Organizational Leadership, Team-building, Safety Leadership, and Communication Skills.  He has had the opportunity to travel  the world and train managers, supervisors, and executives from every continent.   Michael has also written a wide range of curricula, articles, and blogs dealing with topics like Safety Interventions, Team Building, Diversity, and much more.  He also leads the Business Development functions within The RAD Group.  


Michael holds a BS in Secondary Education and an MS in Management.  He is a member of several professional organizations and community outreach programs.

Phillip Ragain - Director of Research & Product Development

Phillip is a former instructor of ethics at Texas Tech University, with a background in organizational behavior, applied ethics and behavioral safety.  In his capacity as the Director of Research and Development at The RAD Group, he conducts original field-research with a concentration in behavioral safety and safety intervention.


In addition to directing The RAD Group’s research division, Phillip is an organizational assessor, trainer and curriculum developer.  He has both developed and co-developed a wide range of training programs that are presently used around the globe, including SafetyCompass®, PerformanceCompassTM and Performance Management training.


Phillip is the author of numerous articles on Safety Culture, Business Ethics, Remote Management and Safety Intervention.

R.C. “Bobby” Robbins - Strategic Engagements Consultant

Bobby is a Military Trained Strategist with two Active Duty tours in Iraq as a Platoon Leader and Staff Operations Officer.  He continues to serve as a Captain in the Army Reserves.  Bobby graduated with two Honors Degrees and a BA in Political Science from Texas A&M University.  As a member of the Corps of Cadets and several student organizations, Bobby was recognized with the Commandant’s Leadership Award and the Buck Weirus Spirit Award for Student Life Impact.  In the business community, Bobby is an unrelenting advocate for developing and equipping leaders with the resources and strategies necessary to realize personal and organizational goals.  With The RAD Group, Bobby provides organizations with the missing link between strategy and implementation by addressing the need to effectively deal with disagreements and the gap between expectations and performance.


In addition to his military leadership, Bobby has practical experience and has driven successful change initiatives in the Residential Construction and Industrial Packaging Industries.

Mike Allen

Mike N. Allen

Partner & Director of Operations

Mike is co-founder and Director of Operations of The RAD Group. He is a former teacher and coach who led high school teams to ten state championships in football and baseball. He was recognized by Steven Covey as "Facilitator of the Year" in 1997. In 1998, after spending 16 years in the oil and gas industry and reaching the position of Corporate Director of Quality and Training, he brought his fiery and motivational brand of coaching and training to the RAD Group. Many of his class participants call him "Coach" because of his style of training and consulting and his desire for his clients to "Be Champions." Mike is passionate about Safety in the workplace and has had much success in training and motivating others to change unsafe behaviors and become Safety Leaders. He understands what it takes to be a successful leader and is credited by many of his clients as the person who helped them make the turn from manager/supervisor to leader. Mike is co-author of several training programs including "Performance Management in the Workplace," which has been used to train thousands of managers/supervisors around the world.
